K-Pop's 2NE1 and Wonder Girls Invade Philippines

wonder girlsSo, apparently K-Pop (Korean) music is getting popular, which became more apparent in the Philippines with Sandara Park's (now called Dara) reemergence into the limelight as part of the hit Korean group 2NE1. But as further evidence of K-Pop's growing popularity, a group known as the Wonder Girls have actually gotten even more international attention, from Asia (Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines) to North America (like USA and Mexico, where they have performed in concerts).

2ne1Out of the two, 2NE1 has the bolder sounds with its hip-hop accent but still maintains the pop vibe that hooks mainstream listeners. They first caught attention in Korea with a cell phone commercial turned music video known as "Lollipop" shown below (together with the group "Big Bang"):

They strongly followed with the hit release of "Fire," an even more popular song with an appealing dance beat:

They hold their dance steps in live performances as well:

Just as impressive is the K-Pop group Wonder Girls. They first hit it big with their song "Tell Me":

And they did even better with their release of "Nobody" which even spurred an English version. With the catchy beat and their addicting dance movements, they've caught international attention:

It has even sprouted some mimic videos...

Gay Thai school boys perform "Nobody":

Cebu Prison inmates perform "Nobody":

But I must admit, none do it better than the original Wonder Girls themselves:
