Dampa

dampaI was able to finally experience a meal at a Dampa--a wet market type place where you can select and buy your seafood and have it cooked the way you like it (from a select list). The concept became so popular that the original Dampa at Airport Road has now expanded to various other places.

There is a Dampa sa Libis, Dampa sa Cubao, Dampa sa Ortigas, Dampa sa Macapagal, Dampa sa Paranaque, Dampa sa Alabanag, Dampa sa Seaside, Dampa sa Timog, Dampa sa Farmer's Market, and so on and so forth. In fact, there are so many that I cannot even remember where this particular Dampa is that I visited.

Choosing lapu-lapu fish and prawns (sugpo), I had them cook sarciado out of the lapu-lapu and a garlic butter dish for the prawns. It turns out they don't cook sarciado well at all (I learned sweet and sour lapu-lapu is what they typically cook), but their buttered shrimp was pretty good.
