Heart Shapes in Nature

heart-shaped lakeHappy Valentine's Day!

Below are some photos of heart-shaped occurrences that can be found in nature.

Taking a look at the Australia's Great Barrier Reef from the air, one may be able to spot the very romantic coral formation pictured.

In Florida, in the U.S., the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary goes one step further, making its heart shape using lichen of a very appropriate colour, red.

And from the air, Germany looks like one big love letter, whether written by nature or man. There's the heart-shapedgarden growing in Waltrop, near Dortmund, and the water reservoir in Sch╦ćnberg, in the country's far north.

In Walchensee, south of Munich in the Bavarian Alps, there's an island covered with evergreen trees that was just made for lovers. Clouds reflect off the surface of the lake to create the perfect Valentine's Day scene.

Love island: The Coeur de Voh (heart of Voh) in New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean, top, and bottom, an island in the mangrove delta of the Vaza-Barris River in Brazil
